More importantly, it has laid bare to the world a totally impoverished country that is ill-equipped to take care of itself even in good times, much less when disaster strikes. I just hope when they do reconstruct Port-Au-Prince, they have the foresight to build earthquake resistant structures and don’t half-ass it. Otherwise, you might as well leave the city in ruins. It’s just a matter of time before another earthquake could hit the Haitian capital due to the fact that it sits on the intersection of two plate boundaries.
