Burka Ban Signifies Shift in Europe
watch on iPhone/iPod TouchSynopsis: There is talk in France of a nation-wide ban on the wearing of the Islamic full-body covering burka…a proposition supported by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Many have viewed this move as anti-Islamic or Islam-o-phobic, but hold on! This ban, along with a Swiss ban on minarets and anti-immigrant violence in Italy, is indicative of a major shift underway across all of Europe: a move to the conservative right, both socially and politically. The Avenger discusses these issues and the reasons why they have arisen….and what you can expect in European politics and cultural frictions of the future.

You forgot to mention how all the immigrants coming to Europe also have a shitton more babies than the Europeans themselves, which is just skyrocketing the problem. In not many years, Sweden is predicted to have a greater Muslim population than Christian protestants like native swedes. That’s if the trend of Muslim immigration and number of Muslim babies continues. What will then happen with the elections in the country? No more burka bans at that point, that’s for sure.
Just before Christmas, Norway elected the same liberal party as the previous 4 years. This is probably because the country is so stretched out that a large amount of the population just doesn’t realize the immigration problem that’s happening in the south. The conservative parties are definitely the most willing to control the immigration (cause it’s completely out of hand), and hopefully it’s not too late to get those guys into office at the next elections.

I think there is definitely an increasing trend of more nationalistic ideas cropping up in Europe. For example i’ve heard reports of an increase in xenophobic attacks in Russia or even internal friction in the EU when a significant amount of the population of a newly added EU state emigrates out to Western Europe as cheap labor.
