Are you telling me that the missile defense shield is yet another ineffectual, financial resource-draining program? Just checking.
What an apropos analogy, “Penis envy with missiles!” I’ve always believed that the phallic missile design is the result of a deep subconscious inadequacy and not based on aerodynamic configuration and propulsion.
I would like to hear about your predictions for the Olympics as well. If you have time I’d like to hear your thoughts on the free trade agreement with Columbia as well.
I think you should occasionally do a posting on wine or alcohol. You could have a thirsty Thursday or something like that. Just to switch it up a little.
You stake a huge claim that history proves that no country will ever fire a nuclear missile. Yet in class when you were talking about why Israel doesn’t admit they own nukes, you suggest that other regional countries would want them and if everyone in the middle east obtained nukes then there is a good chance someone would be crazy enough to use it. If MAD was as 100% bullet proof as you suggest, then wouldn’t we want everyone in the world to own nukes?
Wow you are such a blatant liberal. You should try and refrain from making joke comments about the Bush Administration. It only destroys your credibility. If you want to clarify things, you should take an objective approach to it. I hate it when professors use the classroom to try and politically indoctrinate their students. I think everyone is old enough to make their own decisions and decide who they support. Students don’t need professors telling them who is at fault for everything in the world. It’s almost humorous to observe the increase in professors’ efforts to politically influence their students. Interesting that it is also an election year. Funny how the two are correlated. Plaid Avenger isn’t as bad as some of the professors I have had, but I do pick up on some of the implications made during class and they only serve to frustrate me. I don’t care whether someone is a liberal or conservative, as long as they believe what they believe through their own objective analysis; not the analysis of others.
To the Plaid, man you are Rad. Can you give us the lowdown on the Maoist takedown in Nepal?
To VTHOKIEVT about your comment: It seems you may not understand the purpose of a blog. It IS supposed to be the opinion of the blogger. And who talks about politics with absolute subjectivity? I would guess no one. Not anyone I see on TV, hear on radio, or meet on the street anyway. And how boring and inane would that message be? You are naive to believe that people make their own decisions OUTSIDE of the influence of others. My friend, everything you read and hear (including the news!) is filtered through the writers, editors, and speakers. Without the “analysis of others” most people in this country would be clueless about world affairs. Anyway, liberals and conservatives need to hear the opposing viewpoints or they will be ill-informed indeed. Whether we agree or disagree with them, editorials only help us to form and strengthen our our own opinions. No blog or teacher can take them away from us. Toughen up and don’t be put off by listening to an opposing viewpoint. You might learn something.
Now I agree that for Cold War era politics this theory works, but for the current political/religious conflicts there is a very different solution that no one has considered. The extremists that currently call the United States and Europe their enemy take pride in dying for the cause, so saying that the crazy leaders of Iran are not the type that would set themselves up to die my be incorrect. To people like the 9/11 hijackers the satisfaction of knowing the United States is in a less stable position is motive enough for them to give their lives. I agree nuclear weapons and shield will not help in most cases. Diplomacy is under-rated. But to say that iran with nuclear weapons is not dangerous, I will have to respectfully disagree.
