Reason #702,204 to learn Mandarin
East Asia August 21st, 2007What is happening Plaid People! I am high above the Pacific (take puns as you wish)—returning from a crazy night in
Who, you ask, is that dude? Chen “C-Notes” Yuan is the Governor of the China Development Bank (CDB). The CDB is the largest bank in
And the CDB has recently been in the news, check this out:

That’s right, Mr C-Notes has grabbed a share in the British bank, Barclays. The commies are taking over the global banking system! But don’t fear—when it comes to profit, the Chinese would shit on Karl Marx’s grave to earn an extra 0.1% interest. The CDP has absolutely no intention on redistributing any of Barclay’s wealth to further the dream of a socialist utopia.
Anyway, the take home message from this news story is that the Chinese Government is beginning to flex its financial muscles as a global investor. This has two effects:
(1) it increases
(2) it gives
The main worry is that
The Plaid Avenger’s take, if anyone cares, is that corporations love money. They will do anything they can to maximize profit. It doesn’t matter if the main investors are Mid-Western White Americans or Han-Chinese Government Playboys.
I’ve got to cut this off—my Mile High Club Membership is in need of renewal. Party in Plaid!

This is informative and all, but I want to hear about the international incident involving several Uzbeki hookers, a bottle of Jagermeister, a UN peacekeeping tank and a gang of midgets. You’re amazing, by the way.

I don’t know what everybody is worried about China for. The Chinese were the first to invent a compass, however, in all their wisdom they didn’t think to use it for navigation but instead used it to properly align corpses in their graves. That explains the priorities of the Chinese I think (spirits and such). So rest assured that while they have the ability to take over the world, Chinese traditions will overshadow the ambition of expanding their immense potential on the world.

I hope you’re aware, Z, that the Chinese efforts to develop as quickly as possible have been overshadowing their past traditions. A great majority of new Chinese generation have no religion and are reluctant to follow the same beliefs that their parents and grandparents have followed. Right now China has a one track mind - economic growth… I mean, think of how much money has gone into preparing for the 2008 Olympics. Seems like they’ve been finding new uses for a compass.

Plaidski, is Mongolia the equivalent of a Chinese Canada? …up to the north but nobody knows if the place is even inhabited? I mean, the mongolian buffet rocks but what else are they packing up there in Ulan Bator?
